Hello dear readers. I am testing my reset phone. I hope this works so in the wee hours of the morning I can send you off something meaningful.
Month: February 2023
Padma ate
I learned yesterday that my cat, Padma, got into trouble eating a toy. Our attention became riveted on his recovery. Last night he ate right before bed and again this morning.
This brings such relief. The simple pleasure of hearing all three cats eat their morning breakfast opens my heart. I am grateful for the small miracle.
Do you see the small miracles in your life? What simple pleasure opens your heart? Ki to Happiness invites more miracles by celebrating each small miracle.
In print
My dad‘s obituary is now in print. For some, that makes it real and brings closure. For others, it may be a source of comparison or judgment.
For me, there is no closure. There is only this opening into love that he and I shared which will continue eternally. There are no words, in print or otherwise that express his 97 1/3 years on the Earth.
Do you look at the obituaries? Have you written your own? Ki to Happiness reads and writes and remembers.
People purring
In my beginner’s class last night, we set our intentions and chanted the sacred syllable Om. It sounded like we were purring. All our our voices combined with deep resonance.
I teach for many reasons, including moments like that. It’s as if all of our differences and distractions dissolve. In that blessed moment, we are all on the same wave length, if not the same pitch.
When do you feel deep resonance with others? What allows you to release differences and distractions? Ki to Happiness loves the purrfection of us all together.
Love Warriors
In last nights’s Valentine’s class, I lead our group in a salutation to the love warriors. Progressing from one posture to the next, we centered ourselves, opened our hearts and balanced, disarming ourselves as we turned our worlds upside down and spanned the distance between ourselves and our beloveds. Afterwards, there were treats and celebration.
All of these postures I have had to hold in order to keep my loverness alive. Transitioning from one to the next requires grace. It helps to practice on the mat, so we have the skills to practice when we are not.
What postures have you learned through loving? How able are you to transition from one to the next? Ki to Happiness flows with the breath through all the positions required to keep her loverness alive.
23 Valentines
Happy Valentine’s day, dear readers. Bob and I celebrate 23 years together on this day. The love of our joined forces continues and infuses our beloved Hatha Yoga Center community.
In tears of joy, I acknowledge all of the challenges, issues, problems, and solutions, which have led to tremendous growth, miraculous healing, and abundant forgiveness that comprise these 23 years. We are bonded in order to continue to uphold the tradition of yoga in today’s modern world. Unwavering loyalty to our common values replace romance with a fire that simmers, warming our hearts and those we serve.
Of what significance is Valentine’s Day for you? How will you observe it? Ki to Happiness celebrates and serves.
Difference of Opinion
I am reading a book from one of my clients, which represents a different opinion than one I’ve held since I was a teen. Doing so helps me understand the author as well as others. I grow in compassion.
I have no need to debate or disagree. I simply continue to honor my perspective. I am able to do so now from a broader awareness which includes this difference of opinion.
How do you handle a difference of opinion? Is there room in your world view to accept and respect others? Ki to Happiness expands her consciousness to include others.
Making Room
At our new location, more neighbors are finding their way to Hatha Yoga Center classes. Today may be our biggest attendance yet. In preparation, I opened the large central studio space to accommodate more than 15 students.
I took down the tent, which the cats have enjoyed. After six months of being here, and nearly 3 years since the pandemic, we may resume what used to be a normal. Bob’s Sunday morning classes since 1977 were something of an institution, an alternative to church for our community.
What do you need to make room for in your life? What can you release to invite the newness in? Ki to Happiness releases the past and opens her heart to the future.
Breakthrough
The Sufi sage Pir Vilayat Khan taught that breakdown is often required for breakthrough to occur. Knowing that doesn’t make it any easier. Still, breakdown is messy, uncomfortable and sometimes nearly disastrous.
Yet for a breakthrough to occur, there’s a necessary opening required. In the opening, newness may miraculously present itself with abundant creative potential. Faith in this process is strengthened with repetition.
Can you face breakdown directly? Have you seen it results in miraculous breakthrough? Ki to Happiness grows stronger in faith with each repetition of this process.
Among the Living
I learned this morning of the passing of my former business associate. Together with my dad having just passed away, I am aware of the temporal nature of our lifespan. It’s so important that we make the best use of our time here.
An old high school chum picked up my vibration and called me. She remembered my old business associate, and expressed her condolences. When I go back for my dad‘s and my associate’s visitation will stay in her new house, among the living.
When those we love pass away can you feel the pull toward the grave? Or do you recommit to remain among the living? Ki to Happiness recommits to making the best of life.
