Jet City

Boeing continues to hemorrhage workers. The effect in our city is palpable. Since the lengthy strike, and multiple incidences with airplanes being less than safe, this corporation is loosing it status which once led to Seattle’s nickname of Jet City.

The consequences land not just those who work for the giant, but also those in auxiliary companies and trickle down into our students and clients. Especially at this time of the year, it is most unfortunate. Balancing that out, the merger between grocery giants Kroger and Albertsons has been blocked in Washington, so that will bouy up that sector of our economy.

How do you experience the effects of corporate change in your area? Can you feel the interconnection between your resources and these giants? Ki to Happiness is aware of our Oneness.

Epson salt soak

Whenever misalignment or inflammation occurs, I add Epson Salt to my bath. Sometimes it’s just a scoop in my small tub, and otherwise a full treatment dose of an entire bag, always remembering to rinse off afterwards. When necessary, I continue the treatment for three consecutive days, soaking in warm water, not hot, for at least 20 minutes.

Simple home health practices have helped to sustain me. While I soak, I meditate on releasing inflammation throughout my whole body, allowing natural alignment to support my structures. I envision all being well, and imagine being able to serve the One for a long time to come.

Do you have a bathtub? Can you allow yourself to soak in it with Epson salt for 20 minutes? Ki to Happiness soaks out pains, injuries and inflammation while meditating on health, healing and wholeness.

Juice and Tea

Part of my new habits includes making different cleansing juices and healthful teas. I’ve been alternating the targeted organs for specific support. I started with a lung cleansing ginger, turmeric and onion concoction then an anti inflammatory pineapple fennel beverage.

My new brews include a liver targeted beet, celery, orange and apple drink and ginger tea with orange, lemon and lime juice for immune support. Instead of purchasing such helpful beverages at great expense in plastic shots, I prefer making them myself so I can stir in the extra magic of my intention, chanting and transmitting Reiki into the liquids. Especially at this festive time with lots of sugary treats and heavy starches, which is often referred to as flu season, I prefer these healthful choices for happy holidays.

What are you willing to do to help yourself at this flu season? What choices will make for happy holidays? Ki to Happiness takes responsibility for healthy habits.

Teeny tiny home

One of my new holiday decorations is a teeny tiny home. It’s plaid on the outside with decorated Christmas trees and a snowman gracing its entrance. It lights from within and gives a cheery glow.

I placed it on our altar for classes. Each student was drawn in to take a look, accessing their curiosity. The atmosphere of our yoga studio holds the space for us all to feel safe, warm and bright in every season.

What peaks your curiosity? Do you feel safe enough to explore it? Ki to Happiness appreciates the tiny home movement enough to explore this teeny tiny home.

Rain returns

This atmospheric river brings with it greater warmth and moisture. The bright cold days have left us as mild darkness returns. This blesses us with fresh air entering through the open windows to circulate through our space.

The shift in weather inspired a little holiday decorating in keeping with St. Nicholas day. My inner child delighted in bringing out grandma’s tablecloth, fabric from mom, and cards from last year after gifting one returning student a small token of affection. I sat chanting and playing guitar at our 4:17 sunset.

What inspires your holiday decorating? Which traditions do you observe as you grow and evolve? Ki to Happiness celebrates the truth in past traditions and stays present for inspiration.

St. Nick

Today is Saint Nicholas’ feast day. It’s a good day to gift the kids in our lives with small tokens of our affection and our belief in their potential. It’s also a good day to acknowledge our inner kids and celebrate the way that they are still with us, encouraging play, curiosity, and awe.

Yoga practices for adults can be very serious. When kids practice, it can be fun. I will never forget the fun I had when my mom took me to my first yoga experience at age 8 so I access that energy to share with you.

What kids would you like to gift today? How about your inner child? Ki to Happiness offers the gift of yoga to the kids in all of us.

Today marks Bob’s third year anniversary since his stroke. We are so grateful that he is well, has nearly fully recovered, and has made great changes to his lifestyle to avert another stroke. I am forever grateful for all those who contributed to his healing.

His baseline from decades of Hatha Yoga afforded him a solid, flexible strength to return to. Together with his willingness to drink more water, get more cardiovascular exercise and stop sedentary activities, he’s a model of lifelong learning and practicing which benefits our whole community. His “stroke of genius” as my mother dubbed it has inspired many.

Have medical conditions prompted change in your life? What kind of baseline do your habits afford? Ki to Happiness nurtures a healthy baseline with Hatha Yoga, drinking water and avoiding sedentary activities to avert medical conditions having had plenty herself.

Ice Fog

This morning‘s meditation has been shrouded by ice fog. My candles illuminate my altar as I sit with one cat on my lap, and practice pranayama. Preparing myself for the day ahead, I intend to stay warm and grateful as I serve others.

Starting each day in this way, whatever the weather, allows me to compose myself. Balancing my breath and my emotions, I clear the fog of sleep and access the inner fire. Gratitude for everything that brought me to these practices replaces the chilly obfuscation of life before aligning with my Higher Self.

What warms your soul and clears your head? Can you choose those things every day? Ki to Happiness composes herself.

No Surprises

We got some urgent mail yesterday for our son. I let him know via dm and he decided to come by and pick it up. He respectfully checked with our schedules and came after his workday.

Immediately he opened the mail and shared with us transparently that all is well. No surprises, despite the red stamp and threatening envelope. Relieved, he stayed for tea as we all visited.

How grateful are you for normal? Do you love surprises? Ki to Happiness loves normal, no surprises necessary.

Cyber Monday

I have come to appreciate cyber tools and have learned to respect and utilize them. On this Cyber Monday, I thank all those who created them and distributed them to us for our convenience. I avoid the addictive quality like I learned to turn off the TV.

My grandfather called it the “boob tube”. While others used to watch the TV, I would turn toward them and watch them watch. I learned that these devices can dis regulate our nervous systems so I make sure I take responsibility for my own regulation.

Do you use cyber devices or are you being used by them? Can you take responsibility for regulating your nervous system or you pray to those who would rather do that for you for their own advantage? Ki to Happiness watches and learns responsibly.
