Today is the feast day of Saint Joseph, the patron saint of workers, carpenters, lodgers and those who raise other’s children. I venerate him with a hammer on my altar and some bread. I offer him my gratitude for finding right lodging for all of our needs, and safeguarding my stepson who works in construction.
My grandfather, whose name was Joseph, was instrumental in providing lodging and parenting throughout my youth. His hammer was the first one in my hand as I participated in the construction a small room in his basement. I learned a tremendous amount of practical skills from his workshop, for which I am grateful.
Are you grateful for your lodging? Have you contributed to raising other people‘s kids? Ki to Happiness gives thanks to all who contribute to safe shelter especially for other’s offspring.
