Home Sweet Home

I returned to Seattle during Bob’s 5:30 class time. The students applauded my entrance to the Hatha Yoga Center. I quietly retreated to our living space and greeted our 3 cats, singing their song, and lounging with them as we smelled each other, petting and purring.

I unpacked and settled into our rhythms. Bob and I went to our nearby park for a little fresh air as we caught up, updating the daily emails with the news of our time apart. This morning my yoga practices anchor my body mind spirit to my noble mission, reliable wherever I am.

How sweet is your home? What anchors you to your true purpose, your noble mission? Ki to Happiness is grateful for the sweet reunion with Hatha Yoga Center, our students, cats and Bob Smith.

Travel Day

Today, I travel to my Seattle home. My morning meditation reveals how ready I am. Free from additional stress, with ample time, I’ll return my rental car and head to the airport via shuttle for on time departure, no baggage to check.

My sweet husband has taken care of our cats, the Hatha Yoga Center and himself, checking in with me daily. Kelly, Chris and Christa all taught my classes for me. Each of them make it possible to do my daughterly duty with my beloved mother, and see my brother and friends along the way.

Who helps you travel? Who do you help travel? Ki to Happiness gives thanks to all who assist in safe travel.

Turning Back

As my trip winds down, I retrace my steps. Turning back to St. Louis, I’m aware of what I’ve left behind. I’ve forgotten a pen, my toothbrush and a lot of stress related to this trip.

I have a broken digital social connection, but my physical social connections are strengthened. My yoga practices remain a top priority, having me up with the birds before dawn, but I’ve had to reorder my timing of what practices to do when. The flexible strength and balance from practice helps me adapt and change with the present needs as I turn back to my Higher Self each day, wherever I am.

How do you turn to your Higher Self? What is required? Ki to Happiness breathes consciously, calls out her soul’s songs, sits still and listens to the Response.

Conclave

Mom and I both had seen the movie Conclave before Pope Francis passed away. We chose to watch it again in honor of his passing. We both got more out of it with the second viewing.

Being Cradle Catholics, each of us has recovered from much of our early programming and found our way to peace. She and I had meaningful discussions about life and death as well as religion and spirituality. As I depart from this visit, I take solace in our solidarity and spaciousness, accepting our differences as well as similarities.

Were you raised in a religion? How has your spiritual belief system evolved? Ki to Happiness takes responsibility for her spiritual growth and allows time and space for others to do the same.

RIP Pope Francis

On Easter Sunday, Pope Francis rode the popemobile through St. Petersburg to the delighted cheers of the faithful Catholics who gathered. This morning, he has passed away at age 88. He will be remembered as a humble and tolerant leader who welcomed many progressive people and policies.

Properly laying him to rest as the Catholic world grieves dominates this Easter Monday. There will be a conclave to choose the next Pope. May the selection process be guided by Light and Love of the Highest.

How does Pope Francis’ passing effect you? What qualities of the next pope would you choose? Ki to Happiness would prioritize the true meaning of catholic in the selection.

Easter Time

“Easter time is the time for eggs and the time for eggs is the Easter time.” This little ditty that my Dad used to say runs through my memory without him. I said it as my mom and brother came to the dinner table, both of them joining me with what they remembered.

We’ll go to church and have a feast afterwards with a family friend. The memory of others at our table will fill in the vacant chairs. Celebrating in their absence what we shared, we resurrect them in our hearts.

How will you observe Easter? What love can you resurrect? Ki to Happiness resurrects love of life, family and friends.

Rainstorm

The dark clouds followed me into my yurt. I got inside just as they opened while thunder rumbled and lightning struck nearby. Massive downpour, amplified by the yurt acoustics had me relived to be safely inside.

Safe and snug, I got into bed. Hands folded in prayer, I dropped into gratitude for another good day with mom. I awaken to woodpeckers tapping their greeting to the dawn, multiple birdsongs and a world freshly washed clean from the rainstorm.

When you fold your hands together, can you spontaneously pray? What stops you? Ki to Happiness ritualistically prays so spontaneous prayers come forth each time my hands join.

movie time

Like many families, ours enjoys watching movies together. My mom had never seen my favorite, so we watched it last night. The 1992 Orlando is a beautiful and thought-provoking film based on Virginia Woolf’s novel.

Poetry versus science, male versus female, society versus individuality, are themes that the movie explores. I loved the intimacy of main character “breaking the third wall“ by speaking or glancing toward us, the viewing audience. I do that here sometimes, dear reader, awakening us to these shared moments.I do that here sometimes, dear reader, awakening us to these shared moments.

What is meaningful about the entertainment you subject yourself to? Which themes are you interested in intimately exploring? Ki to Happiness values intimate exploration of themes that stand up to the test of time.

Coordinating Schedules

I’m often juggling time zones and class schedules to accommodate the needs of my clients. While traveling, it becomes further complicated with my families needs. Altogether, coordinating schedules works best for me as I stay on schedule with my morning yoga practice.

Today, more will be revealed for future planning. Morning meditations help me stay stable and grounded. In this process, I grow in faith that all will fall into place and come together in the right timing.

How can you simplify your schedule? What helps you stay grounded and stable? Ki to Happiness stays on schedule with Hatha Yoga practice.
