My Lane

As a holistic counselor, psychotherapist, and yoga instructor, I am blessed with many tools with which to help others who otherwise fall through the cracks of our so-called health systems. As I do so, I stay in my lane, which is non-medical. Sometimes I am asked to serve those with medical issues, so I always have others to whom I refer.

In my lane, I have much to offer those who wish to integrate body, mind, emotions, and spirit. I’ve recently replenished some of my physical tools from a new source. I look forward to utilizing these non-medical tools for my own purposes and sharing them with others when appropriate.

What is your lane? How comfortably can you stay in it? Ki to Happiness offers abundant integrative services safely and joyously.

I’m Possible

As I prepare for my 65th birthday, the process of enrolling for Medicare seems impossible. I’ve gotten multiple conflicting opinions advising me in different directions. The whole process brings up futility and dread.

Then I remember to look with the word impossible to see the two words “I’m possible”. That shifts my attitude and helps me persevere. With the attitude of gratitude, I make progress in right timing.

What seems impossible to you? Can you change your attitude as you affirm “I’m possible”? Ki to Happiness makes progress with all things that seem impossible with help and the right attitude.

Pluto Direct

During the last six months, Pluto has been apparently reversing its direction. With it, the energy of transformation has had us reviewing and reflecting on some major life issues. We can see it playing out on the global stage.

Now that it is moving forward in the sign of Aquarius, the information we have gleaned from the last six months will help in dealing with these stresses. It’s important to take heed now to avoid these energies boiling over on 10/25 when Mars opposes Pluto. Personal, professional and planetary change is possible as we make use of this opportunity.

What stressors have you been dealing with for the last six months? Have you learned all you need to make use of this opportunity to transform? Ki to Happiness is empowered by knowing about these energies and acting accordingly.

Play Time

During my childhood, life was pretty serious. I didn’t play much. As an adult, playtime has not been a priority, although I’ve learned to not take myself so seriously.

Raising our son, Bob made sure there was plenty of playtime with friends, balls, magic cards and cats. Since his stroke, Bob plays golf, but not with our cats much. Yesterday I found a little bit of time intermittently through the day to play with our cats to give them exercise, and to enrich their lives as well as my inner child.

Did you play much as a kid? Do you allow yourself playtime as an adult? Ki to Happiness grows more playful in time.

Signs Return

As we returned from our walk in the neighborhood yesterday, I saw a familiar shape down behind the woods. Turned inside out and dirty, there was our Hatha Yoga Center sign. I wasn’t sure at first as I descended the slope where the neighbors have been building a restraining wall against the flood plane by the creek.

I turned it over, brushed it off and carried it back with Bob’s assistance. We ran into our near neighbor who is presently unemployed, having been a security guard. I offered him the job of securing the sign and carrying it daily to the curb and back to his delight and our mutual benefit.

What do you do when something is stolen, lost or otherwise missing? Who do you call on? Ki to Happiness calls on St. Anthony and keeps her eyes open.

Warm Smoothie

After morning classes, Bob and I share smoothies for lunch. As the temperatures dip, we stay inside instead of sitting in the sun on the deck. Yesterday was cool enough to warrant warming the pumpkin smoothies up a bit on the stove.

I blended the plant based vanilla protein powder together with a small banana, a can of pumpkin, lots of cinnamon, some mango juice and soy milk. After blending, I heated it just enough so that a dollop of cashew yogurt on the top when serving would still be viable. A garnish of crunchy granola to aid in digestion made it perfect.

What warms you up and reminds you of sunshine during the cold, wet dark? What satisfies your hunger on many levels? Ki to Happiness improvises, listening to Guidance in the kitchen as well as in every room of the Hatha Yoga Center.

Lentil Soup

We had our first wet and windy night this season last night. It propelled me into the kitchen to make lentil soup. Adding the onions and carrots, I reflected on those who grew my ingredients. I stirred extra gratitude into the crock for all who contributed to my convenience.

I became aware of the inner connection between us, the farmers, shippers, distributors, and the grocery store team across the street all who make this soup possible. That overflowed into gratitude for the crock maker, the electric company, the plumbing infrastructure and all the advances in our present society affording me sanitary conditions and healthy nutrition. Anytime I feel alone, I stop and realize that we are all one in the most basic ways.

What helps you feel connected? How grateful are you for your present living conditions? Ki to Happiness thanks all who have contributed to my healthy soup that will sustain us all week.

Mariners Win

Last night‘s game had us up late and on the edge of our seats. Our local team’s victory means we can progress farther than we ever have toward the World Series. Baseball season is not over for us yet.

Hatha Yoga represents a middle path-not indulging in bright victory or dark pain, but choosing to witness both. I remained calm at the fulcrum of my practice while observing the myriad of emotions swelling and subsiding with each inning. Smiling from the fulcrum, I look forward to the next games as we advance.

Can you remain at the fulcrum while emotions rise and fall? What helps you stay balanced through winning and loosing? Ki to Happiness wins peace by loosing identification with outcomes.

Sticky Scam

Before our afternoon walk, I was sitting with one of our cats in the sunlight pouring in through our glass door. Suddenly, an unknown man approached and put a sticker on our door. I was clearly visible through the door, which I then opened to inquire as to his purpose as he proceeded toward our other door to place another sticker before departing in his illegally parked car.

My Guidance and intuition led me to immediately remove the stickers. tell my husband, and look for other similar stickers in our neighborhood as we walked. Finding none, I remembered having heard about such a scam, so I posted a warning to our neighborhood Facebook group. The practice of hatha yoga opens us up to such Guidance as we learn to listen to our gut, intuiting falsehood.

How keen are your Spidey senses? Do you listen to your gut? Ki to Happiness trusts her gut.

Plans Change

As I’ve been planning my next trip to visit my mom, I scheduled it at a time when I could also see my long time friends for our upcoming significant birthday. I secured class coverage, booked my flight, and reserved a rental car. I found some sweet gifts to send in advance but hesitated to ship them.

I learned yesterday that one of the friends may not be able to make it at all due to back surgery. Then I found out that one of my teachers may not be able to cover classes either. Plans change, which validates my hesitation.

Do you honor your hesitation? When plans change, do you? Ki to Happiness plans to listen to Guidance from within.
