Sometimes, when I work privately with a client, I run into issues I have not personally experienced. In order to deepen my compassion I may read someone else’s account of going through such issues. In this way, I prolong my meditation on walking a mile in their moccasins.
Research indicates that the happiest among us are those who can learn from other people‘s paths. While my own issues started me on the journey of healing, I’m fortunate to not have had to go through every issue personally. Having compassion for myself opens me up to deep compassion for others.
