As a yoga teacher, I often remind my students and trainees that the meaning of yoga is union. There are lots of interpretations of what that means. Broadly, it means to unite with the One in All.
During this time of great social unrest and division, there are those who would like to interpret my actions and belief systems as belonging to one or another different camp. In the last few days I’ve been accused of belonging to this or that party. I like to party with the One in All, on and off the Yoga mat, in my meditations, and I pray we all find a way to Peace.
Have you ever met someone who believes exactly what you do? How do you deal with others who have different beliefs? Ki to Happiness sees the One shining forth in myriad guises like is stated in the Shvetashvatara Upanishad.
One reply on “Yoga means Union”
The purpose of a Living Civilization is Unity. Unity with our higher selves. Unity with each other. Unity with Nature. Unity with the Cosmos. Divisions and separations are a weakness, and they can be overcome with Love, Forgiveness and Trust.
