Autumn nods its head down toward the encroaching winter. Heavy dark clouds give forth it’s contents. Hail pelts from the sky. Sleet heavies the downpour. Rain washes it all away.
Then, a sudden sun break…Dazzling light reflected off of wet surfaces replaces the dark cold. Revealed in light, the hail melts. The sleet flows into the wet. All is clean and bright.
With the weather, our emotional nature similarly fluctuates. Emotions well up, and when released, rain down upon us with sadness, and sorrow. Hailing down in chunks of frozen feelings, sleeting upon us once expression is allowed. And ultimately the sun come shining through yet again.
Can you honor each state of safe emotional expression, like the weather? As is the Nordic expression, “there’s no bad weather. Just bad clothing.” Ki to Happiness suggests bundling up…in layers, on all levels.
