Learning and teaching

I had a live student yesterday. He’s a beginner, from the outside our stable group. He’s been with us before the pandemic hit in full force a few times. I remembered him and his wrist issues, but not his name, until he reminded me.

He got oriented with another long-term stable group member assisting a bit. As I continued to instruct, I was watching joy and mirth rising from within. Bubbling up from the deep well which started me teaching in 1985 came smiles and ease for us all.

Do you love what you do? Can you still feel the impetus of your journey? Ki to Happiness loves learning and teaching.

Welcome Spring

Doing my best to finish up the end of winter issues, I found myself frustrated with nine different issues. These little threads are remnants of the burglary that have not yet been stitched up. Some got snagged by the technology required to live and work in these times.

As a yoga teacher, trainer, and psychotherapist the tools necessary to mend these snags aren’t in my toolbox. Fortunately, I have several people that have them. I’ve had to reach out repeatedly, and ask for help. I’ve been humbled this Winter.

Do you also have remnants from the winter that need mending? Can you accept the loose threads as they are for now? Ki to Happiness Springs ahead, with loose threads and a humble heart.

End of winter

On this last day of winter in the northern hemisphere, it’s a good day to clean up. Letting go of the Winter’s debris, in our surroundings, in our bodies, as well as in our minds will prepare us for a beautiful Spring of balance and growth.

When this winter began, We had a sudden shift back into more restrictions in our area. Bookending that well, on Monday, March 22, we open up wider than we have for a year. Let’s get ready!

What do you need to release? Are you ready for Spring? Ki to Happiness loves all the seasons.

Good news

Since the InaugurationI have lost my taste for the news. In relief I allowed myself a respite. I check in from time to time. Then am startled by the good news!

After years of bad news, sometimes it’s hard to take it in. Like returning to eating after a lengthy illness or fasting, it’s very important to take small bites and chew well. I’m loving the new appointments to the administration, the movement forward with the stimulus package, and the likelihood of half the kids getting out of poverty, as the virus begins to be contained.

How are you doing with the good news? What size bite can you take? Ki to Happiness extracts the nutrients without overwhelming her system.

St. Patrick’s Day

Top of the morning! I’ve never been so happy to learn that the Chicago River is green again. Last year at this point in time, all celebrations were canceled, and the river stayed it’s organic color. Now that restrictions have loosened, and we can celebrate the spirit of the Irish, let’s do so safely.

The metaphoric snakes that were driven from Ireland by Saint Patrick continue to require a watchful eye and perhaps a shillelagh. Those snakes symbolize our lower selves, and are best driven out of the sacred land of our bodies so our Higher Selves can reign Supreme.

How will you celebrate? Which aspect of this day can you resonate with? Ki to Happiness wishes you the Luck of the Irish to overcome what is needed to let your eyes smile.

The right path

Along the way to the discovery of innate happiness within there are little moments indicating we’re on the right path. I experience this in synchronicities, coincidences, illuminations and time warps.

For instance, yesterday I had a tight schedule. Yet within it, there was a feeling of timelessness. Infinity was wrapped up in each of the efforts. I even had the time to drop off a little love note which I had prepared before coincidentally for a friend in need of some sweetness. Syncing up with Spirit, guidance sets the pace and illuminates the direction.

Is your path letting you know you are on the right one for you now? How does it occur? Ki to Happiness sniffs out the scent of light.

The Ides of March

At Winters end, the Romans settled their debts. Julius Caesar died on this day settling his. Ever since then Shakespeare’s warning cautions us to beware.

After the year we’ve all had, we may be wary. Truly, there is no need for additional caution on this day. As we get closer to loosening restrictions and more reopening it will serve us all to protect the many valuable lessons this time of the Covid has offered.

Which lessons feel the most vulnerable? How can you best insure they are integrated? Ki to Happiness feels them within.

Spring forward

This may be one of our last times in the state of Washington that we spring forward and change our clocks. There are 15 other states that have also voted to cease from the time changing ritual, which seems to bring about more problems than solutions.

In preparation, we ate earlier, and went to bed earlier. I’m so happy we did. In the middle of the night there was an accident right under our bedroom windows resulting in a car horn being stuck on for about a half an hour. Waking up at 1:30 would’ve been even worse had I not prepared for springing forward.

Did you prepare? Are you in favor of this ritual? Ki to Happiness is prepared to let this ritual go.

New moon in Pisces

On this last new moon of winter, we are invited to prepare for spring by letting go. Releasing all of the debris of the long cold darkness, space opens up to welcome the light and warmth that is coming.

In our country, the biggest relief package in history is on its way. In our state, businesses are opening their doors to more customers. At the Hatha Yoga Center, we open more windows to let the freshness in. In my heart, I let go of the recoil after the burglary and open like a fallen leaf, floating on the support of this river of life which carries me toward the Ocean of Oneness.

What of winter do you need to release? How much can you open to the light and warmth that is coming? Ki to Happiness surrenders intentionally.

Phase 3

Our governor announced yesterday that we are free to shift into phase 3 of re-opening businesses. This is such a relief and calls for celebration! We are definitely moving forward. It’s been such a long year with so many changes, that I didn’t even realize there was a phase 3.

And my new problem which I blogged about yesterday, is also resolved! Serious progress here. Sharing it with you is a delight. This is when my gratitude practices become more muscular. Instead of backing off my practices with so many needs having been met, I’m leaning in to say a big thank you to all of us for preserving and persisting.

How will phase 3 affect you? What is needed next for your re-opening? Ki to Happiness needs to express gratitude! Thank you!
