Count Down

Pacing myself, I’m counting down the days until mom’s surgery. My emergency bag is packed, refundable ticket researched, class coverage secured, and clients notified. This is my best method to ensure that I won’t have to go anywhere.

All my practices ground me enough that I am able to stay present. Loving the lifestyle I’ve chosen and helping others continues to align me with the joy and peace that lives within. Healing into wholeness, one day at a time, this count down period too, shall pass.

What helps you stay present? Are you able to pace yourself when facing the unknown? Ki to Happiness practices yoga one breath at a time, facing the known and unknown.

Waiting Week

Next week at this time, we will know the result of Mom‘s surgery. Until then, we wait and organize. Together with my brother, we visualize no side effects and no complications, a successful robotic surgery and gentle healing.

It is said that the hardest part is the waiting. Yoga has companioned me through many waiting periods in my life. So far it has helped me stay present in practice and teaching, and I have reason to believe it will this week, too.

How patiently can you wait? What are you waiting for? Ki to Happiness waits patiently with yoga practice, visualizing the best outcome, experiencing peaceful healing now.

Good Neighbors

We saw the lights flashing, as the firetruck and ambulance came down the street of our cul-de-sac. One of our neighbors needed emergency response again. As the emergency subsided, I prayed for all our good neighbors.

My grandmother taught me to do that when I was a child. She treated everyone like a neighbor. Her humble Irish ways stay with me no matter how long she’s been gone.

Do you have good neighbors? What did your grandparents teach you that has stayed with you? Ki to Happiness honors those who contributed to my deepest conditioning, once brought to consciousness.

Daniel’s Back

Our buddy Daniel returned from his 9 week trip with his family of origin to practice yoga. He joined us later to watch a basketball game with Bob. I served them both dinner during halftime and made sure Daniel had plenty to take home with him for his first week back.

Daniel was my man of honor at our Seattle wedding. He continues to hold up our union 24 years later. Few from that gathering of 90+ folks are still with us, making our time together extra meaningful.

What makes your time with friends meaningful? Are there others who attended significant events in your life and continue with you? Ki to Happiness is grateful for all who’ve attended our weddings and continue to practice yoga with us.

Black Moon

This 3 day window without moon light gives us pause to be intentional. As we do, we synchronize our energies with potential support. We still take action to play our role.

Busy lives away from nature may miss this opportunity. Distractions abound. Consistent disciple anchors the through line so persistent progress becomes manifested, strengthening shraddha, Sanskrit for serious determination.

How serious is your determination? What strengthens it? Ki to Happiness works in the dark to bring forward the Light.

New Moon

Today’s new moon is in the sign of Taurus. This earth sign wants health, peace and comfort at home. With the most recent retrograde, Pluto, there may have been some disruptions of late to settle in order to become intentional about the next month ahead.

In my morning meditations, I have been more able to see patterns from the past coming up for a tuneup. From the peace and quiet gleaned in these practices, I have been making decisions guided by that true north. Solving problems before they arise, my behavior aligns with my intentions for the next lunar cycle.

What disruptions have come up for you of late that you’d like to settle? What would you like to intend to come of those issues for a peaceful, healthy, and comfortable month ahead? Ki to Happiness receives Guidance in yoga practice and acts on it, tuning up boundaries and behaviors.

Interim Ending

Mom‘s health has improved to the extent that today her interim healthcare service is ending. For the last seven +weeks, her caregivers have seen her rebound completely to independent living. I celebrate this from afar.

They have afforded me the luxury of continuing with my chosen yogic lifestyle including practicing, teaching classes, serving clients, and running HYC with my husband. I will continue to track on Mom‘s medical journey from here until my next scheduled visit in July unless there’s a need for me to change my plans. My brother (who also lives out of state from my mother) and I are together forever grateful for this interim service and it concluding well.

How chosen is your lifestyle? What supports you in continuing it? Ki to Happiness chose this path and thanks all that support it.

Pluto Retrograde

Last week, when the outer orb of Pluto appeared to move in reverse in the sign of Aquarius, I recognized it stirring up some of my old material. Initially agitated by having to return to old issues, I centered myself with yoga practice. In doing so, now I recognize that this is an opportunity to redo and heal from the past.

Whether or not that is literally the case, reframing issues is helpful. Avoiding taking issues personally, we might be able to see from another perspective. Astrology always offers an interesting angle which is intended to empower us so that we can proceed.

Have you developed the ability to not take things personally? Are you noticing old issues resurfacing with a chance to improve upon them? Ki to Happiness deals with issues by utilizing yoga and astrology as well as other healing arts.

Rain Returns

After our beautiful sunshiny day yesterday, the rain returned in the night. The cats alerted me to that fact as they were concerned. Water intruded through a leak in our ceiling again, dripping on the floor, causing a puddle.

No doubt when the roofers fixed the problem above us, this fresh rain exposes that we are downstream. It triggered my PTSD from repeated water intrusion issues here. I wrestled my nervous system back into peaceful regulation with my yoga practice and look forward to a prompt response from property management as we seize the opportunity to report to a few other issues that we’ve been putting off.

How do you regulate your nervous system? Can you see challenges as opportunities to make improvements? Ki to Happiness welcomes the rain and all it brings.

10 minutes

I’ve been adding a couple of little 10 minute practices to my day. The beauty of Spring brings me outdoors to take in natural light for 10 minutes as soon as day breaks. In the afternoon, I’ve been adding a 10 minute grounding ritual with my bare feet on the good mother Earth.

These healthy practices I suggest to my students and clients. I notice how hard it is to make these small changes yet am rewarded by doing so. Consistency is more important than perfection when choosing new habits.

What small changes would you like to make in your habits? Can you simply try the changes for 10 minutes? Ki to Happiness builds character with consistent, conscious disciplined ever expanding habits.
