Day Off

I relish the day ahead and the possibility it represents for me. Having returned from my trip, I’ve taught my classes and worked with my clients. Now I can ground myself in the integration of all that has occurred.

Resting consciously, I count my blessings. Healing from the efforts and imbalances, I call upon my Helpers. Body, mind, spirit together I resource and align for my next Instruction.

Deck Chairs

The mild temperatures and sunny afternoon led us to bring out the deck chairs. We sat on them with our smoothies for the first time this year. At night, we remembered to bring in the cushions so as to not invite trespassers

These small tasks awaken in us the appreciation of true spring. Walking in the neighborhood without a jacket, I felt vulnerable but warm enough. I could even practice and teach yoga wearing regular tights.

What activities let you know it is truly spring? How does that affect your yoga practice? Ki to Happiness doesn’t spring forward with changing of a clock, but with the warmth and sunshine inviting us outdoors.

Gentle Homecoming

I have returned safely to my home in Seattle. My husband greeted me outside in the mild evening. Our cats sniffed my luggage and helped me unpack.

I heard of my mom’s progress on her chosen path. That helps me continue on mine. Together with yoga practices and prayers, I’m grateful for this gentle homecoming.

Travel Day

I fly back to Seattle today. My brother, my host in St. Louis, and I visited last night after my drive from the yurt. Together, we processed the events of this trip regarding Mom‘s path forward.

My yoga practices have stabilized me throughout this journey so far. I’m sure they will hold me in good stead as I continue. Praying for safe, on time flight but first unraveling the issues with checking in, and TSA also helps me stay grounded.

Easter Monday

As I prepare to depart from my yurt, I do so knowing that my mother is in good hands. Her church community welcomed her back with open arms, offering lots of support. Her health has rebounded to the extent that yesterday she was able to walk upstairs into her master bedroom suite, and ride her stationary bike for two miles, breaking her own speed record.

Her confidence in her choice of doctors and treatment plan leads me to make my plans to return, as usual, this summer. She has risen, perfectly synchronized with Easter. I hope to celebrate her freedom from cancer on Independence Day, and her birthday shortly after.

Happy Easter

Hatha Yoga Center hybrid classes continue on this holiday. Rising consciousness with body mind spirit integration makes every day holy. As we each align with our higher nature, we join in That which is available to each and every one of us.

Personally, I celebrate my mom’s rising. She is well enough to attend church after this long eventful month of hospitalizations, doctor’s appointments and tests. I support her in her choosing her path forward, as I continue on mine. We are full of gratitude for the many good folks who’ve assisted and attended to this process.

Holy Saturday

We had a lovely home church service yesterday. Just in case Mom is unable to attend Easter service tomorrow, some of the Presbyterian elders of her church came to us with communion. Mom‘s private personal assistant attended with us.

With the Fellowship of that experience, more progress occurred. Mom walked outside in her circular driveway for the first time since her hospitalization. The good cheer facilitated my cleaning out her pantry of any sugary cancer promoting items and replacing them with heathy alternatives.

Where do you find fellowship? What benefits does it provide? Ki to Happiness finds fellowship with all who worship the One which supports discernment without judgement, fostering good choices.

Good Friday

On this holy day of observation, we can release our burdens and come down off the cross of conflict. Body, mind, emotion and spirit aren’t meant to be at odds with one another. These aspects of self unite in the center of the cross we all carry.

As we identify with the center, we become whole. The heart center receives all our efforts, trials, errors and welcomes us with open arms. The Light within our heart of hearts saves us from our division so we have its peace, forgiveness and salvation to offer to our world.

Have you witnessed the light in your heart? Can you close your eyes and place your hands on your heart center and feel the light and love within? Ki to Happiness is safe within the open arms of the heart center.

Lone Goose

During my morning meditation, I heard the honking outside above my yurt. I looked up and saw a single goose flying overhead. I immediately got its medicine and metaphor, symbolically meaning that I am emotionally healing on my solo and independent flight path.

In the Paramahamsa Upanishad, this is poetically described. Its ancient prose supports my way forward, alone, in the midst of all that is. Supreme validation is the reward for listening to Higher Guidance.

Are you familiar with the Upanishads underpinning the Yoga path? From where do you get validation and guidance? Ki to Happiness receives validation and Higher Guidance from ancient texts, the natural world, and the internal Light of meditation.

April Fools

This full pink moon lands on April Fools’ Day. Pranks and tomfoolery may be indulged in today. If those are the seeds you want to grow through the Spring and Summer, so be it.

Others of us may want to use this fertile energy to grow something else. Health, harmony, and peace can be symbolically planted in the soil with vegetable, fruit or flower seeds. Whatever you plant today, do it consciously.
