Open Windows

As our day begins, the temperature is warm enough at 51° to open the windows completely and let in the fresh Spring air. All three cats jumped at the chance to sit on the windowsill and take in all the scents and sounds in the darkness before dawn. After the long winter, we are grateful for this simple pleasure.

Every day I open the windows for at least 15 minutes, if only a crack. But this morning with windows wide open for hours, there’s a more complete exchange of air. Exhaling the breath of yesterday’s students, the lingering smells of cooking, and the stale remnants of Kali Yuga’s darkness, our space inhales the maple trees unfurling leaves, the blooming hyacinths and the soft moist earth.

What of the past would you like to exhale? What newness would that allow you to inhale? Ki to Happiness exhales the past’s darkness and inhales the present’s golden truth.
