Pi Day

Today’s date of 3.14 is celebrated as pi day in observance of the significance the number represents. To those nerds in the know, “math is God” and numbers speak their own wisdom. Numerology studies that wisdom and teaches us that the One is in all things, numbers included.

Whether you are into math, numbers, or the wisdom in all things, it could be a good day to eat pie. Some will be having pi reciting contests.

3.14159265359…is a good beginning.

Do you see wisdom in numbers? What numbers are serious for you, perhaps repeatedly showing up in your life? Ki to Happiness counts like a yogi: one, one, One…

Snow Day

I awaken to the snow falling, and plenty on the ground. Local predictions indicate we are likely to continue to have snow until 10 AM. Well, our city may be temporarily paralyzed, Hatha Yoga Center continues to offer a safe space for conscious movement.

It takes me back to my childhood in the Midwest. A few snow days were padded into the school schedule, which always meant there could be an unexpected delight in the winter. Sledding, ice-skating, or simple hibernation could replace reading writing and arithmetic which offered its own education in the wonders of nature.

Did you grow up with snow days? Can you welcome the surprises of nature? Ki to Happiness sits inside her snow globe view in gratitude and remembrance.

Big Little Things

Yesterday‘s wind storm had our power flickering during my evening classes. I could barely prepare for a possible outage with all the efforts regarding my mom‘s process. I’m grateful for the little things that are truly big like the convenience of having power this morning.

Emotionally exhausted from waiting and complications with communication, I took a second bath before teaching. I made myself an extra cup of decaf Earl Grey tea and swallowed some immune support herbs to revive. Together with some sweet cat time, yoga practice and our neighborhood walk, I’m evermore grateful for all the big little things.

What little things are really big in your life? Can you focus on them and release the rest? Ki to Happiness gives the little things a big energy hug.

Great Support

My mom is in the hospital. I may need to go to her. So far, she is getting the great support she needs from her medical team and her many dear friends.

While I prepare to depart at a moments notice, I also stay put as I listen to Guidance. I also have great support that I may need to call on so I have alerted them. The greatest support for both my mom and myself comes from feeling each of us in agreement and aligned with Guidance, one day at a time.

Do you have the kind of support you need? Where does it come from? Ki to Happiness has great support both inside and outside, near and far.

Do Better

One of my beloved clients reached out to me, enraged by some unusual circumstances. I’m so glad he did, instead of engaging in other destructive behaviors, either towards himself or others. Today is a new day, which gives him a chance to do better, and reminds me that that’s what is possible every day.

I begin my morning practice in gratitude for my life, and this opportunity to do better. As a sift through my life material each morning, I look for my errors. I always find something that I can improve upon, so I set my intentions to do better.

What would you like to do better? What small steps can you take in that direction today? Ki to Happiness takes one step at a time, improving along the way.

6 years Live Streaming

Today is our live streaming anniversary. Six years ago, I got the strong premonition that if we didn’t learn how to live stream, we would lose our business. I’m so glad I listened to that guidance and took action, despite resistance and ignorance.

One week after we started, the lockdown occurred. Only our HYC family attended in person until it lifted. Our live stream kept us offering yoga classes to the rest of our community, and still serves those who prefer to practice with us from elsewhere.

What good remains from the lockdown for you? When have you followed Guidance, despite resistance and/or ignorance? Ki to Happiness grew stronger, more independent and tech savvy for following Guidance.

Women’s Day

Nationally, we observe this momentous day for women having gotten the right to vote. Internationally, we celebrate women around the world. Personally, I celebrate my matriarchal lineage.

My mother and her mother both showed me strength and courage to break free from social constraints. Utilizing that freedom, I have pursued my noble mission, guided by my Highef Self. As a teacher, trainer and therapist I facilitate others to the same.

What women will you celebrate today? What attributes have become part of your lineage that you extend to others? Ki to Happiness honors women everywhere.

Moving Parts

We had several issues up in the air yesterday. Many were conflicting with scheduling and communication issues. At the end of the day, all occurred in right timing,

Staying grounded, and uplifted during these challenges requires my morning practice. Taking the time to sort through my responsibilities, setting my intentions, and staying Higher centered, I let go of what I cannot change. An early bedtime means I am up early enough to face a new day with several moving parts.

How do you deal with several moving parts? What can you streamline and simplify to face life on life‘s terms? Ki to Happiness breathes freely and deeply with her long neural spine and stays connected to the Higher Power of her understanding.

Balanced Breathing

Through all the yogic tools and techniques I’ve learned over the many years, I still begin with the basics. Balanced breathing helps me stay balanced throughout my days, come what may. It’s easy, in formal seated practice, and also good no matter where we are.

I inhale through both nostrils for 10 heartbeats and exhale for the same length of time. I add to that several specific intentions, but what matters is simply timing the breath with the heartbeats. Staying balanced, we are more likely to respond to our world instead of being reactive.

What helps you find balance? When balanced, how would you like to respond to your circumstances? Ki to Happiness finds balance with the breath so to be able to respond with peace to all people, situations, and circumstances.

Raining Cats and Dogs

Sorry, but just had to blog that old cliche. It rained here all day until just before evening classes. As the sun broke, it shined on our deck which invited the hungry stray cats back to have some food.

Students arrived and brought their dogs, which scooted the cats away until later. New attendees and regulars appreciated the menagerie. We made sure to do both cat and dog postures, honoring the ferrel and domesticated parts of ourselves.

How domesticated are you? What part of yourself is still a bit wild? Ki to Happiness loves all creatures, great and small, wild and tame.
