Peace Walk

The Buddhist Monks concluded their 108 day journey for peace in Washington DC. In celebration, all were invited to walk with them yesterday. I learned about it 15minutes before it began and put on my shoes to join.

As I walked here locally, I energetically connected with all those who also walked somewhere else. It felt like my solo morning meditations, which connect me to all others who meditate. I love plugging myself into this unseen network which envelopes the Earth continuously without end.

Did you participate in the peace walk? How do you connect with the invisible network of we who choose peace? Ki to Happiness connects with the others who practice peace daily.

Parade Day

As Seattle prepares to parade our victorious Seahawks downtown, 1 million participants are projected. While it is likely to be a crowded scene scene with gridlocked traffic, we will safely continue with our usual activities here. The city is abuzz with elation which will benefit our students and clients.

I’m so glad to have participated in our first Superbowl win years ago. As I stay back, I leave room for other stepmoms to make great memories by taking our place to attend. I cherish my memories which need not be repeated.

Do you love a parade? Or do you prefer the simple quietude of your own life? Ki to Happiness loves a parade and will appreciate it from the simple quietude of conducting private sessions and classes.

Fake Delivery

As I was teaching my morning class yesterday, we had a knock at the wrong door. An unsolicited deposit of marketing materials rudely interrupted my class while I was live streaming. I did my best to take it in stride, and resumed our focus.

After class, I threw away the materials having seen they were absolutely unnecessary, unwarranted, and unsolicited. Later, it still bothered me to the extent that I retrieved the contact information from the trash and called the number. I spoke with the woman responsible for the “delivery” and let her know that we did not appreciate the rude interruption which only served to highlight the falsehood of the materials that stated the effort was intended to enhance our business when clearly it interfered with it as I was teaching live students and live streaming as HYC has successfully for years.

How do you handle rude interruptions? Do you disregard or express yourself? Ki to Happiness tries to disregard and is willing to express herself when necessary.

Super Seahawks Monday

I’ve learned that the day after the Super Bowl is often referred to as “super sick Monday“. It’s the day of the year with the highest absentee rate at work, with the estimate being about 25%. The usual average, which is just above 10%.

Our victorious Seahawks return to the hometown for their parade on Wednesday. I imagine some folks may call in sick to participate. HYC will celebrate the win by continuing to offer our services and classes with some extra civic pride and relief that no one got hurt.

How well do you feel today? Is it ok to call in well, joyous and needing a day off? Ki to Happiness feels well on this Super Seahawks Monday.

Superbowl Seahawks

It’s been 12 years since the Seahawks went to the Super Bowl. When we won 13 years ago, it was a exciting and uplifting triumph for the home team, and for sports fans, locally, including our family. Since we lost the next year, we’ve been looking forward to another chance.

Here it is! Truly, no matter the outcome, what I will consider victorious is if no one gets hurt. I’m sure my dad will be cheering us on from above as I serve as his representative.

Will you watch the game? What about the halftime show? Ki to Happiness will serve the 7 layer bean dip and celebrate when it’s all over without any injury.

Olympics Opening

We settled in into our ritual of viewing the Olympics’ opening. The spectacle and the pageantry prepare us for the magic and magnificence of the games. The inspiration will influence our yoga practice and teaching.

Tomorrow’s Super Bowl with our local Seahawks will further inspire us. We are always uplifted by other’s excellence. All of us who view these spectacles may be uplifted into improving ourselves and our world.

What inspires you? What uplifts you into manifesting your magnificence? Ki to Happiness is inspire and uplifted by others’ excellence.

Blooming Daffodils

On January 10, I saw the first daffodil bloom in our neighborhood. Yesterday morning, one of our bulbs bloomed. Its sunshiny, yellow face brightens our deck as the other bulbs, prepare a while longer.

This midwinter gift shows us how mild our conditions have been while other parts of the country are continuing to thaw out. We walked in gratitude, seeing other signs of Spring. With our eyes set for beauty, the world reveals Itself.

What are your eyes set for? Are you looking for love, harmony, and beauty? Ki to Happiness looks for signs of Life and is rewarded with blooming daffodils.

Reclined Hero

I was able to do a posture yesterday that I haven’t been able to do for 14 months. As life proceeds, injuries and accidents happen. Adapting yoga practice means letting go of attachments to particular practices and modifying to support healing.

It also means resuming practices experimentally, gently and consciously. It’s important that we not give up on ourselves and our healing potential. I continue to heal and integrate my many lessons, even after all these years of practicing teaching.

Have you had to let go of some practices? Can you experiment with resuming practices as healing occurs? Ki to Happiness has resumed practicing Reclined Hero as one example.

Knots Untied

I practiced an old ritual yesterday of loosely, tying knots in a ribbon, representing patterns of energy. As I untied the knots, I envisioned freedom from those patterns. Then I draped the loose ribbon around in my space as a reminder that that work is done.

This simple ritual symbolizes to my unconscious that all is well. Energy is available to move freely in the direction of my intention. As I free myself, my intention is to deepen my ability to serve others near and far, in group classes as well as privately.

What energy knots would you like to untie? Are you willing to try this simple ritual? Ki to Happiness loosens the knots that bind energy so to freely help others do the same in many different ways.

First Thing

This morning, the cats did not get me up at 4 AM. As I stirred at 4:20, I called out to them. I placed my feet on the ground without first saying thank you for my life.

I’ve adopted the practice of giving thanks first thing. Today, it was second thing, as I found sleepy cats and fed them. In the future, even if they don’t wake me, I’ll do better by giving thanks first thing anyway.

What do you do first thing? What might you do better? Ki to Happiness continues to do better, with daily improvements, grateful for the opportunity.
