October 4 is the feast day of the World’s most beloved saint. St. Francis is the patron saint of animals and those of us who care for them. In honor of this, some take animals to receive a special blessing on this day.
I couldn’t possibly take all the animals who I love anywhere, so I will bless them from here in Saint Francis‘s honor. Our 3 indoor domestic cats, one stray, as well as squirrels, birds, and raccoons that visit us from the nearby woods will receive extra love and blessings today. I do so in remembrance of all the other 4 legged and feathered friends who’ve graced me with their medicine throughout my life.
